Damn

I am soooo bummed right now. I have been actually REALLY looking forward to my 8 mile long run today. Winter is a total buzzkill.

Is it the weather? No way, I live in southern California. It is beautiful 99% of the winter time. At a current temp of 55 degrees, it is definitely not the weather.

I went to bed with a very minor sore throat and woke up with it’s evil twin brother. My throat is sooo sore that I can barely breathe. This is ridiculous. I have to miss my long run so I don’t make it even worse.

Damn you cold an flu season. Maybe it will be better tomorrow. Until then, I will be a fatty and mope around complaining about how I will NEVER be ready for my half in 10 weeks. Haha I’m so dramatic.

Anywhoooo, hope you all are healthy enough to enjoy a nice long run today!! :)

Hello, 5k, it has been a while

Today, I did the unthinkable.

I ran.

Hallelujah, hallelujah! I busted out a measly 3 miles on the treadmill on my lunch break.

I took the first mile nice and slow. I got into my groove surprisingly quickly. My legs were moving, and it felt great! At about 1.75 miles, I paused the treadmill to stretch my legs out for a second. In the words of Julia Roberts, “Big mistake, HUGE!!”

After I started up the treadmill again, I could not for the life of me get my groove back. My calf kept cramping up and my stomach was starting to knot up. There is nothing worse than letting one rip right next to your co-worker. I’m tellin ya, it was a close one.

Regardless of my cramped calf and stomach, I wanted to finish strong. The last half mile I ran at about 6.1-6.5 MPH which is way faster than my usual 5.0 MPH on the treadmill.

Total miles: 3.0
Total time: 35:31
Average pace: 11:50

All in all, it just felt really good to be running! :)

Current Status

I have a confession to make… I have not ran in 2 weeks.

I know, I know… I have to be ready for my half marathon in 10 weeks and instead of working my ass off, I have been slacking. It really is hard around the holidays. Plus, I have to work a minimum of 20% overtime right now which is very bittersweet. I am totally stoked with the extra money, but working 12+ hour days is a total buzzkill.

In reality, I know these are just lame excuses though. I need to start working out before work in the morning. It would totally start my day off right.

Motivation anyone?!

Help a girl out!

13.1 or bust!

Hello blog world!

I am a new to running have decided to document my journey toward running my first half marathon. Now, let’s get this straight… I am NOT a runner. Far from it. I have the endurance of a rhinoceros. True story… It’s bad. Somewhere between nearly passing out while walking up stairs and gaining about 20 pounds, I decided that I had enough.

I am happily married to the most amazing man ever. He is the greatest support system ever. A few months ago, we decided that we need to do something about our ridiculous weight gain. We started working out (and I started running). Together, we have lost nearly 45 pounds.

We are not done yet, though.

I have just recently signed up for my first half marathon. February 13 marks the day that I need to be ready to do something I have never considered.

I am far from being ready for my half so I am starting this blog to keep me motivated. Plus, it is an added bonus getting involved in the bloggy world! :)

Please join me in my journey to 13.1 miles! :)
